Crystal Lake Unveils New Album ‘The Weight of Sound’ for 2024
Crystal Lake, the renowned Japanese metalcore band, has officially announced their upcoming album, titled ‘The Weight of Sound’, set for release on January 23, 2024, under Century Media Records. The title track is currently available for streaming, showcasing the band’s evolution and commitment to their craft.
In reflecting on the new album, YD, the band’s guitarist and founder, expressed his thoughts on the journey that has shaped Crystal Lake over the past 23 years. He stated, “When I look back, I realise that Crystal Lake has now been active for 23 long years. People often say, ‘time flies,’ but the truth is we’ve carved out countless histories together – with friends, bandmates, and fellow musicians – sharing struggles that drew blood and building this band piece by piece.” YD added that the album serves as a testament to the band’s experiences and the power of music to influence culture.
The emotional weight of the album is further elaborated by vocalist John, who shared insights into the title track. He explained, “I wrote this after being gone from home for a long period, and it mirrors those emotions of being on tour for a majority of the year. You are quite literally never there for the people you love when they need you.” John emphasized the struggle musicians face, stating, “So people don’t always believe in your struggle and there is a lot of doubt from all sides. But I believe in myself and this life. I’ll carry the weight of sound forever.” His sentiments highlight the personal nature of the album and its relatable themes.
