Felicity Jones Dazzles in Black Gown at London Film Festival Premiere
The premiere of the highly anticipated Netflix film, Train Dreams, took place on October 12, 2025, at the 69th London Film Festival, drawing significant attention from both fans and critics. The event unfolded at the renowned BFI Southbank, where the film’s stars showcased their stunning fashion choices on the red carpet.
Among the standout attendees was Felicity Jones, who captivated onlookers in a sophisticated black satin gown featuring sheer detailing. The 41-year-old actress, portraying Gladys in the film, complemented her elegant attire with a sleek bun, drop earrings, and a subtle smokey eye makeup look, enhancing her radiant complexion.
Joining her was co-star Kerry Condon, who opted for a striking tailored suit dress with prominent shoulder pads. The 42-year-old actress exuded confidence and charm, flashing a bright smile as she posed for photographs. Condon’s ensemble included oversized buttons that accentuated her figure, while her blonde hair was styled in soft curls, further adding to her allure.
Also present at the premiere was Raffey Cassidy, known for her role in The Brutalist. Cassidy took a more casual approach, sporting faded blue jeans paired with a black roll neck jumper and loafers, accessorized with simple silver hoop earrings.
Train Dreams, directed by Clint Bentley, features Joel Edgerton as Robert Grainier, an orphan navigating life in 20th-century America during a period of rapid industrial change. The film’s narrative explores Grainier’s journey as a logger on expanding railroads, focusing on his struggles to balance work and family life.
The film has garnered significant acclaim since its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it received a remarkable 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have praised it as “the best film of 2025,” describing it as “a gorgeous meditation on America,” while others predict it will be remembered as one of the defining films of the decade.
One critic emphasized the film’s emotional depth, stating, “This is one of the great films of the year. In time, it will become one of the movies that people speak of when asked what inspired them in their life. It is a masterpiece.” The film also holds an impressive 82 out of 100 on Metacritic, reflecting universal acclaim from industry critics.
Director Clint Bentley shared insights on the film’s thematic elements, explaining, “At its core, Train Dreams is about the people who keep the world going through work that’s often not celebrated or remembered.” He further remarked on the significance of the story amid contemporary challenges, noting, “These days, as the world seems to be coming apart at the seams, that feels especially poignant.”
Adapted from Denis Johnson‘s novella of the same name, Train Dreams is set to be available for streaming on Netflix starting November 21, 2025. As the film continues to attract critical acclaim, its premiere marks a significant moment in the cinematic landscape for the year.
