Malin Andersson Leaves UK for New Life After Years of Struggles

Malin Andersson, a former contestant on the reality show Love Island, has announced her decision to leave the UK after what she described as “29 years of sadness.” In an emotional video shared on social media, Andersson explained that she feels disconnected from her hometown and has “no ties left” in the country.
Currently in Madeira, Portugal, Andersson is spending time with her daughter, Xaya, and plans to travel to Barcelona soon. In her Instagram update, she expressed excitement about her upcoming adventures while reflecting on her past experiences. “Me and Xaya are in Madeira. My best friend lives here, and we’re going to be here for a week before I go on my next adventure,” she shared.
Reflecting on her life, Andersson revealed that she moved from Sweden to the UK at the age of three and has lived in Bedfordshire ever since. She discussed the emotional weight of her surroundings, stating, “Take away work and things like that, and your safety net becomes the town that you’re in, the people, the same faces.”
As she looked back, she recognized a profound sense of isolation: “I came with a family, and I’m leaving without anyone. I don’t speak to any of my siblings; they all live separate, my parents are dead, I have no family. It’s just me and Xaya.” The 32-year-old described a pivotal moment of realization, stating, “I had enough. I felt like my soul was taken out of me.”
During her journey of healing from a lifetime of stress and trauma, Andersson reached a point where she craved change. “I need adventure, fun, travel, and joy,” she expressed. She emphasized the importance of recalibrating her life, stating, “It feels surreal. I’ve got a lot of grief as well. Grieving the c**p life that I had. 29 years of sadness really.”
In her social media post, she elaborated on her feelings, stating, “I didn’t realize until the day I decided to leave that the area we are born into is designed to keep us there… forever.” Andersson believes that by expanding her horizons, she can create a more fulfilling life.
While her decision comes after a series of personal challenges, including the death of her mother in March 2021 and a breakup with her then-boyfriend, Jared, shortly after the birth of Xaya in 2022, Andersson remains optimistic. The couple announced their split just weeks after Xaya’s arrival, with Andersson noting the importance of co-parenting despite their separation.
As she embarks on a new phase of life, Malin Andersson hopes to find joy and purpose beyond the confines of her past. Her journey serves as a poignant reminder of the power of personal transformation and the quest for happiness.
