Pip Edwards, the founder of Australian activewear brand P.E Nation, has unveiled a surprising approach to maintaining her youthful appearance as she celebrated her 45th birthday. During an appearance on the Darling, Shine! podcast hosted by Ellidy Pullin, Edwards revealed that she applies topical oestrogen cream to her face, a practice typically associated with hormone replacement therapy.

Edwards explained that as women age and approach menopause, collagen production decreases, leading to changes in skin firmness and elasticity. She stated, “I just found out from a doctor friend of mine… when you hit menopause and you get older, you lose collagen in your face and it’s not great.” She continued, “When you go on HRT, that’s actually really great for your skin. But I just found out you can put oestrogen cream on your face, topically. And I’ve just started doing that and I’m like, oh my god, this sh*t is working.”

The designer noted that while the cream is commonly used for other purposes, she has embraced it as a skincare solution, encouraging other women to consider its benefits.

Fitness and Lifestyle Regimen

Beyond her skincare routine, Edwards is also renowned for her commitment to fitness, particularly her dedication to Pilates. She practices at Fluidform Pilates, a studio founded by Sydney-based instructor Kirsten King, which emphasizes small movements and isometric holds to engage deeper muscle groups. Edwards has credited her toned physique and visible abs to these rigorous workouts, stating, “I’m a strong believer in consistent, regular movement. Moving your body for just 20 to 30 minutes each day is much more beneficial than working out for an hour once or twice a week.”

In addition to her exercise regimen, Edwards follows a predominantly vegetarian diet. She shared that her typical meals include roasted vegetables and salads, with a preference for wholesome options like tacos when she wants something casual. Despite leaning towards a vegan lifestyle, she still enjoys eggs, which she carries as a quick and healthy snack.

A typical day of meals for Edwards consists of boiled eggs with Tabasco sauce for breakfast, soup or salad for lunch, and a hearty dinner of chicken with vegetables or pasta. For snacks, she opts for trail mix, crackers with Vegemite and cottage cheese, or sweet treats like liquorice tea.

Wellness Practices

Edwards also incorporates various wellness practices into her routine, including weekly acupuncture sessions, saunas, and swimming at Bondi Icebergs. These activities contribute to her overall well-being and help her manage the demands of her career and personal life.

As Pip Edwards continues to share her skincare and wellness secrets, her unique approach to aging resonates with many, prompting discussions around the use of hormone treatments in skincare. Her candid revelations offer insight into how women can explore different methods to enhance their appearance and promote healthy aging.

The combination of her innovative use of oestrogen cream, dedication to fitness, and healthy eating habits exemplifies her holistic approach to maintaining vitality as she embraces her mid-forties.
