Sega Unveils Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties for Switch 2 in 2026
Sega has officially announced the upcoming release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 and its companion title, Dark Ties, for the Switch 2. This exciting news emerged during the RGG Summit 2025 livestream, where the company revealed that the titles will be available starting February 12, 2026, with pre-orders now open.
Originally launched on the PlayStation 3 in 2009, Yakuza Kiwami 3 has undergone a significant reimagining. The game features enhanced graphics and modern gameplay mechanics designed to immerse players in the vibrant world of Okinawa. It promises more intense combat scenarios, additional cutscenes that deepen the narrative, and engaging minigames that offer high replay value.
Engaging Storylines and Characters
The game follows the beloved character Kazuma Kiryu as he continues his journey to protect those he cares about. In a compelling twist, Dark Ties introduces players to Yoshitaka Mine, Kiryu’s rival. The narrative explores Mine’s transformation from a venture company founder to a fully-fledged member of the yakuza. After experiencing significant loss, Mine embarks on a quest to forge meaningful connections, highlighting his struggles and the paths that intertwine with Kiryu’s.
The cast for Yakuza Kiwami 3 includes notable voice actors such as Takaya Kuroda, Shido Nakamura, and Daisuke Miyagawa. Similarly, the voice talent for Dark Ties features Hiroyuki Miyasako and Kenji Matsuda, among others. This rich character development and voice acting aim to bring depth to the gaming experience.
What to Expect
Both titles are positioned as significant additions to the Yakuza franchise, which has garnered a loyal following worldwide. As players dive into this reimagined world, they can expect a blend of action, drama, and engaging storytelling that has become synonymous with the Yakuza series.
With the launch of Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties on the Switch 2, Sega aims to attract both longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise. As anticipation builds for the February release, the company continues to foster excitement through pre-order incentives and promotional content, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences.
