Teddi Mellencamp Opens Up About Living with Ex-Husband Amid Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp, the reality television star known for her role on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” is currently living with her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, as she battles stage four cancer. In a candid interview on the Jamie Kern Lima Show aired on July 29, 2025, Mellencamp shared insights into their unusual living arrangements and her desire for Arroyave to date other women.
The couple separated in October 2024, opting to maintain a family-centric environment for their three children: Slate (12), Cruz (10), and Dove (5). Initially, they took turns living in their family home in Los Angeles, with Mellencamp staying at a friend’s house, where she joked about having ‘shared custody’ of her living situation. However, following her diagnosis with brain tumors earlier in 2025, their living arrangements shifted. Arroyave chose to remain in the family home, often staying in a downstairs bedroom when Mellencamp expressed feeling unwell.
In the interview, Mellencamp emphasized the amicable nature of their current relationship, stating, “We can live in the same house. We don’t argue.” She expressed confidence in Arroyave’s support during this challenging time, noting that he could have pursued their divorce but decided against it for the sake of her well-being. “My family just said like, ‘I don’t think this is the right thing for her to be able to try to navigate right now,'” she explained.
The couple’s relationship has seen its share of difficulties, including rumors of infidelity on both sides. Mellencamp acknowledged past issues, revealing, “Me and Edwin had some of the most amazing years… and then there would be somebody else.” Despite these challenges, she remains focused on their family dynamic, indicating that she is open to Arroyave seeing other women. “I would be fine with him dating,” she stated, underscoring her desire for both of them to find happiness.
Mellencamp’s journey has included significant medical interventions, including surgery to remove four brain tumors in February 2025. As she navigates her health challenges, she shared that her therapist has encouraged her to pursue her own happiness, including dating, should the opportunity arise. “Anything that you want to do right now… do it,” she recounted.
The former reality star also addressed the complexities of her relationship with Arroyave, humorously questioning how to label their connection amid their circumstances. “I kind of know how our marriage works,” she said, reflecting on the unique situation they find themselves in.
Mellencamp’s openness about her health and her relationship with Arroyave highlights the importance of support during difficult times. As she continues her treatment, both she and Arroyave are prioritizing their children’s happiness and their friendship as they navigate this challenging chapter together.
