The Traitors Begins Casting for 2027 Contestants
The popular reality show, The Traitors, has announced its plans to cast contestants for its fifth series, set to premiere in January 2027. This news follows the successful filming of the fourth season and the upcoming celebrity edition, both of which have generated significant viewer interest.
BBC has confirmed that the application process for new contestants is already underway. Aspiring players can apply through the BBC’s official website until the end of May 2024, just before filming begins. To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Celebrity Edition Premiering Soon
In addition to the casting call for the fifth series, The Traitors is gearing up for its first celebrity edition, which is set to air on October 8, 2023. The launch will take place at 9 PM on BBC One and iPlayer. Host Claudia Winkleman has teased an exciting yet intense experience for the participating celebrities, promising a game of trust and betrayal.
The teaser trailer for the celebrity series has already captured attention, featuring a star-studded cast including Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, Paloma Faith, and Tom Daley. In a chilling moment, Winkleman warns the celebrities, “Your glamorous lives count for nothing. Most of you will be murdered,” as they gather around the iconic Roundtable.
The first episode of this special edition will run for an extended 70 minutes, providing ample time for the unfolding drama. Following the premiere, episodes will air twice weekly on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Details and Prizes for Contestants
Contestants in both the regular and celebrity editions will navigate a complex landscape of deception and strategy, with the ultimate goal of winning a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice. This combination of competition and philanthropy adds an engaging layer to the show’s format.
As the casting process for the fifth series begins, the anticipation surrounding The Traitors continues to grow. With the successful history of the show and the upcoming celebrity edition, producers are keen to create an unforgettable experience for both contestants and viewers alike. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the BBC’s Take Part website to register their interest and potentially join the ranks of this thrilling game.
