Jessie J Announces Surgery, Reschedules Tour Amid Cancer Battle

Jessie J has revealed that she requires further surgery following her diagnosis of early-stage breast cancer, necessitating the rearrangement of her upcoming tour dates. The singer from Chadwell Heath first disclosed her health struggles earlier this year when she found a lump measuring between 4 to 5 cm. After experiencing symptoms including a heavy arm and persistent pins and needles, a biopsy confirmed the presence of high-grade cancer cells just a day after her birthday.
In her initial treatment, Jessie J opted for a mastectomy to remove the affected breast, choosing this path over radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Recently, she announced that although the upcoming surgery is not considered serious, it must be completed by the end of this year. This timing conflicts with her planned tour, originally set to commence in October.
Health Challenges and Personal Impact
In a heartfelt statement, Jessie expressed her frustration and sadness regarding the situation, saying, “Unfortunately, I have to have a second surgery – nothing too serious, but it has to be done by the end of this year. This falls in the middle of the tour I had booked. I’m so sorry, I feel frustrated and sad, but I need to be better, I need to be healed.”
A spokesperson confirmed that the tour dates would be rescheduled in light of her medical needs. While fans await news of the new dates, Jessie has been candid about the emotional toll her diagnosis has taken on her life.
During an appearance on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, she shared, “Yesterday I sobbed. I feel like I can’t be a mum to my son, and I miss him. I feel like cancer has robbed me of memories with my boy.”
Jessie J’s journey serves as a poignant reminder of the personal challenges that often accompany serious health issues. As she focuses on recovery, her fans remain supportive and eager for updates on her return to the stage.
