Man Charged Following Fatal A10 Crash Leaves One Dead

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on the A10 that resulted in one death and serious injuries to another individual. The incident occurred on August 15, 2023, at around 07:10, between the villages of Stretham and Chittering in Cambridgeshire.

The crash involved a Mini, driven by a 53-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene, as well as a lorry and two other vehicles. A passenger in the Mini sustained serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where they remain under medical care.

Adam Bates, a resident of Juniper Drive in Chatteris, faces multiple charges, including causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving without insurance. Following his court appearance at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on August 16, he was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on September 15.
