Westlife Celebrates 25 Years with Special Stamp Collection

An Post has unveiled a special collection of stamps to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the iconic Irish band Westlife. The collection features a variety of stamps celebrating a quarter-century of the group, which includes members Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily. Westlife will mark this milestone with two concerts at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London next month.
The stamp series went on sale today and includes a booklet featuring four National Rate “N” stamps, each honoring an individual band member along with their personal signature. Additionally, there is a €3.00 commemorative stamp sheet embellished with gold foil detailing, adding a touch of elegance. The collection also features a First Day Cover envelope, which showcases exclusive imagery of Westlife and includes a special commemorative ‘Sligo’ postmark, as reported by RTE.
Westlife expressed their gratitude for this recognition. In a statement, they said, “To have this recognition means the world to us. It is such an honour and privilege to be featured on Irish stamps and it is a very special way to commemorate our 25 years of Westlife touring together.” They extended their thanks to the fans who have supported them throughout their journey and acknowledged An Post for their role in this celebration. “See you on the envelopes! Love Kian, Mark, Nicky and Shane,” they added.
Celebrating a Milestone in Music History
Aileen Mooney, the Irish Stamps Manager at An Post, emphasized the importance of this collection, stating, “An Post is proud to celebrate Westlife’s incredible journey with this special collection. These stamps are more than postage; they are a celebration of Irish culture, a keepsake for fans, and a lasting tribute to 25 years of Westlife.”
Fans are encouraged to act quickly, as the stamps are in limited supply and expected to sell out fast. The Westlife 25 Stamps can be purchased through An Post’s website, as well as from post offices across Ireland.
Earlier this year, Westlife announced new material and “special shows” to celebrate their remarkable journey, which began on February 9, 2001, at the Newcastle Arena. However, not all members will be participating in the upcoming concerts. Mark Feehily has stepped back to focus on his health due to various concerns. The group conveyed their hopes for his swift recovery, stating, “Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations. We hope he can join us back on stage when he is ready and able.” They concluded by expressing disbelief at how quickly the past 25 years have flown by and their gratitude for the unwavering support from their fans worldwide.
As Westlife celebrates this significant milestone, the stamps serve as a tangible reminder of their impact on music and culture, resonating with fans both in Ireland and around the globe.
