Liverpool Teen Maisey Carey Crowned Miss Junior Teen Great Britain 2025
A 15-year-old from Liverpool, Maisey Carey, has been named Miss Junior Teen Great Britain 2025, triumphing over more than 130 finalists in a national pageant held on October 11 at the Globe Theatre in London. This prestigious title was awarded after a fierce competition, which saw over 2,000 applicants vying for recognition in various categories.
Maisey’s mother, Sarah Carey, expressed her pride, noting that her daughter’s “Scouse humour” played a significant role in winning over the judges. “She had the judges laughing,” Sarah stated. “Being from Liverpool, she’s a really chatty person. It comes easy to her to chat to people.” The proud mother highlighted Maisey’s growth in confidence over the past year, noting that they had initially hoped for a top ten finish but were thrilled with her ultimate victory.
Advocacy and Charitable Work
Maisey, who hails from Litherland, has utilized her platform to raise awareness for important social issues, particularly focusing on period poverty. Through her initiative, Period Poverty Awareness (PPA), she has successfully collected and donated over 800 sanitary care packages to various organizations, including Liverpool Women’s Hospital and local food banks. Her contributions extend to providing over 100 selection boxes to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and raising funds for national charities like Together for Short Lives, which supports local hospices such as Zoe’s Place and Claire House.
Period poverty, characterized by the lack of access to menstrual products, hygiene facilities, or education due to financial constraints, poses serious health and social risks. Maisey passionately advocates for greater awareness and access, stating, “No woman or girl should have to stay off work or school simply because they can’t afford basic human necessities.”
She further emphasized the importance of discussing period poverty, noting that it is often overlooked. “I think it’s really important to raise awareness,” she added. “There’s a stereotype to pageants, but it’s so much more than just looks.” Maisey described the experience of participating in pageants as inclusive and confidence-building, with opportunities for team-building activities and charity work often hidden from public view.
Community Support and Future Aspirations
The final event was livestreamed on YouTube, garnering support from family and friends across Liverpool. Sarah noted the overwhelming encouragement they received, saying, “We had loads of people texting saying they were watching and cheering her on. It was brilliant.”
With her new title, Maisey looks forward to expanding her advocacy work and embracing the opportunities that come with her victory. “I love doing pageants because it’s so inclusive. It opens up so many opportunities,” she said. “Through doing pageants, I’ve made some of my closest friends. It just builds so much confidence and allows you to be who you are.”
Reflecting on her win, she stated, “[Being crowned the winner] was amazing, I’m still buzzing.” Maisey is determined to continue her charitable efforts and raise awareness on issues that matter to her community.
