Music and Racing Unite as Clean Bandit and Björn Again Rock Newbury
Thousands of music fans and racegoers gathered at Newbury Racecourse over the weekend for a vibrant celebration known as Party in the Paddock. The event featured performances from popular acts Björn Again and Clean Bandit, marking a lively conclusion to the summer season of entertainment at the racecourse.
Björn Again Takes the Stage
The festivities kicked off on Friday, August 15, 2025, with a performance by Björn Again, renowned as the premier tribute band to the legendary Swedish group ABBA. Their lively show resonated with fans, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and joy. Rock legend Dave Grohl, frontman of the Foo Fighters, has previously lauded the band, stating, “I just love them – who doesn’t? When Björn Again opened for Nirvana at the Reading festival, they stole the show and got the best response of the day.”
The energy from the crowd was palpable as attendees danced and sang along to classic hits, reinforcing the band’s reputation as crowd-pleasers. The performance was a highlight of the summer racing schedule, showcasing how music can enhance the excitement of race day.
Clean Bandit Brings Electronic Beats
On Saturday, the celebration continued with Clean Bandit headlining the Visit Malta Hungerford Day. Their set featured a mix of chart-topping hits, including the international smash “Rockabye.” Known for their unique blend of electronic and classical music, Clean Bandit has achieved remarkable success, with four number-one singles and three music videos surpassing one billion views on YouTube.
The group, consisting of classically trained cellist Grace Chatto and brothers Jack and Luke Patterson, has made a significant impact on the music scene. Jack Patterson, the principal songwriter, has received prestigious accolades, including two Ivor Novello Awards for the hit “Rather Be.”
Fans also had the opportunity to participate in a competition that offered a chance to win a dream holiday to Malta, adding an exciting incentive to the event.
Harry Walklin, marketing director at Newbury Racecourse, expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “Our Party in the Paddock racedays are the standout moments of our summer schedule.” This sentiment was echoed by many attendees, who appreciated the blend of thrilling horse racing and high-energy live music.
The final Party in the Paddock event for the 2025 season is set to feature James Bay on Saturday, September 20, 2025. For those looking to attend, further information and bookings are available at newburyracecourse.co.uk.
