North Wales Police Dogs Star in Charity Calendar for Retirement Fund
North Wales Police dogs are the focal point of a new charity calendar aimed at raising funds for retired police dogs. The Paws Off Duty 2026 calendar will be available from October 24, 2025, with proceeds directly supporting the welfare of these retired animals.
Founded in 2015 by PC Jackie Edwards, Paws Off Duty provides financial assistance for veterinary care and other welfare costs incurred by police dogs after they retire from active duty. Police dogs typically serve until the age of eight to ten, at which point the financial support from the police force ceases. Following retirement, the responsibility for ongoing care falls to their handlers or new owners, which can lead to significant expenses, especially for older dogs.
The calendar features both serving and retired dogs from the North Wales Police, highlighting their varied roles in policing. Each month showcases a different canine along with their contributions, which range from searching for missing persons to aiding in armed operations.
PC Jackie Edwards expressed her gratitude for the support received in launching the calendar. “Every penny goes towards supporting our retired K9s, who have dedicated their lives to protecting our communities,” she stated. “I hope people will show their appreciation by purchasing a calendar; it truly makes a difference.”
She also acknowledged the efforts of PC Conway for her significant role in designing the calendar and bringing it to fruition. “She’s done a fantastic job,” Edwards added. The collaboration with local businesses has also been instrumental, with a special thanks to Farm and Pet Place for their invaluable support in this initiative.
Priced at £10, the calendars will be available for purchase at Farm and Pet Place stores and online. All proceeds are dedicated to Paws Off Duty, ensuring that retired police dogs can enjoy the comfortable retirement they deserve after their years of service to the community.
This initiative not only raises funds but also aims to raise awareness about the ongoing needs of retired police dogs, encouraging public support for those who have spent their lives serving and protecting.
