Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 Impresses, Yet Z Fold7 Steals Spotlight

Samsung has launched its latest foldable device, the Galaxy Z Flip7, which has garnered positive reviews since its release. With significant upgrades over its predecessor, the Flip7 boasts enhancements in both design and functionality, making it a strong contender in the foldable smartphone market.
The most notable improvement is the new 4.1-inch Infinity Flex Window cover screen, which is larger than the previous model’s 3.4-inch panel. This upgraded cover screen allows users to check notifications, reply to texts, and control music without needing to unfold the device. While it does not offer all the features of the main 6.9-inch screen, it serves as a convenient tool for quick communications.
Under the sleek exterior, the Galaxy Z Flip7 includes a slightly larger battery, enabling users to enjoy a full day of usage on a single charge. During testing, a three-hour streaming session only consumed a modest 20 percent of the battery. The device is powered by the new Exynos 2500 processor, which handles daily tasks efficiently.
Samsung has also focused on durability with the Flip7. The device features a strengthened Dual Rail Hinge made from Advanced Armour Aluminium and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This should address previous concerns about the fragility of earlier Flip models. While the dual-lens cameras perform adequately, there is no telephoto lens for enhanced zoom capabilities. However, the unique design allows for creative uses, such as taking selfies hands-free.
Despite the Flip7’s advancements, the Galaxy Z Fold7 has caught the attention of many, including those who were previously skeptical of the foldable line. At the Samsung Unpacked event in August 2023, the Fold7’s sleek design and improved performance were showcased, leading to a shift in perception.
The Z Fold7, now only 4.2mm thin when closed, opens to reveal an impressive 8-inch display that resembles a tablet. This model is powered by the Qualcomm 8 Gen Elite processor and features a triple-lens camera system for high-quality photography and video. Although the Fold7 is significantly more expensive—over £600 more than the Flip7—it offers a compelling experience that many users find appealing.
For those considering a foldable device, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is an excellent choice this year. However, potential buyers may experience a sense of FOMO if friends opt for the more extravagant Z Fold7. The advancements in both devices reflect Samsung’s commitment to innovation in the smartphone market, but it is clear that the Z Fold7 is creating considerable excitement among consumers.
Samsung continues to refine its foldable technology, and this year’s offerings are a testament to the company’s vision for the future of mobile devices.
