Tadej Pogacar Claims Fourth Tour de France Title in Paris Victory
Tadej Pogacar has triumphed in the 2025 Tour de France, securing his fourth title in Paris at the age of just 26. This achievement marks his sixth consecutive appearance on the podium, further solidifying his status as one of cycling’s elite. The dramatic conclusion unfolded on the Champs-Élysées, where Pogacar’s dominance was evident throughout the three-week race.
The pivotal moment came during Stage 12, which presented the first significant mountain challenge of the Tour. Despite suffering a crash late in the closing kilometres of Stage 11, Pogacar showcased his resilience by powering away from his competitors on the lower slopes of the notorious hors-categorie Hautacam. From that point on, he remained untouchable, extending his lead over his closest rival, Jonas Vingegaard, who struggled with the loss of key teammates Matteo Jorgenson, Sepp Kuss, and Simon Yates in the opening Pyrenean stage.
Pogacar’s performance was nothing short of masterful. After previously winning stages four and seven, he claimed his third stage victory atop Hautacam, regaining the coveted yellow jersey after briefly relinquishing it earlier in the race. His momentum continued as he won the mountainous time trial in Stage 13, expanding his advantage over Vingegaard to more than four minutes.
The defending champion made history during the Tour, becoming the youngest rider to achieve 21 Tour de France stage wins with his victory at the Peyragudes category-one climb. Ultimately, Pogacar finished the race with a time of 4’24” ahead of Vingegaard, who took the runner-up position. Emerging as a notable contender, Florian Lipowitz, a 24-year-old from Germany, secured third place, finishing 11 minutes behind Pogacar and earning the title of best young rider.
In a remarkable showing of talent, Oscar Onley from Britain, competing in only his second Tour de France at the age of 22, finished fourth overall, 12 minutes and 12 seconds behind the champion.
As the 2025 Tour de France comes to a close, the final standings reflect Pogacar’s strategic prowess and physical endurance, setting a high bar for future competitors. The race has once again proven to be a showcase of elite cycling talent on the world stage, leaving fans eager for the next edition.
