Police Enforce Dispersal Order Following Wrexham Protest

Police in Wrexham have implemented a dispersal order following a protest in the city centre on March 24, 2024. The order, which is effective until 22:30, permits officers to instruct individuals to leave the designated area. The decision comes after a small protest occurred earlier in the afternoon, although the specific issues raised during the demonstration remain unclear.
According to a statement from North Wales Police, “We are aware of a protest that took place in the city centre this afternoon. The groups have now dispersed, and a policing presence remains in the area.” The police further clarified that individuals who are directed to leave must do so immediately and may face arrest if they return before the dispersal order expires.
Reports suggest that the protest may have been connected to recent demonstrations regarding the housing of asylum seekers, such as those seen last weekend in Mold. During that event, demonstrators expressed their concerns over proposals to accommodate families in a new asylum seeker dispersal facility located at the Ambrose Centre.
The police presence in Wrexham is intended to ensure public safety and maintain order in the aftermath of today’s protest. Authorities have not specified any potential charges stemming from the protest, nor have they released details about the number of participants involved.
As the situation develops, North Wales Police will continue to monitor the area and provide updates to the community regarding any further incidents. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through local news sources and official police communications to better understand the implications of the dispersal order and any related events.
