French Startup Isentroniq Secures €7.5M to Transform Quantum Wiring

French deeptech startup Isentroniq has successfully raised €7.5 million in funding to address a critical challenge in the field of quantum computing: the wiring bottleneck. This innovative company is focused on developing next-generation wiring solutions that aim to reduce the heat, cost, and space constraints currently limiting the scalability of quantum systems.

The promise of quantum computing extends across various sectors, including medicine and energy, but the journey toward practical applications faces significant hurdles. Quantum computers operate using qubits, which require cooling to near absolute zero to maintain stability. Controlling these qubits necessitates thousands of ultra-thin wires that run through cryogenic chambers known as dilution refrigerators. Each wire adds heat, occupies space, and incurs costs, creating a structural deadlock. Presently, existing systems can only manage a few hundred qubits before hitting their physical limits, while achieving the million-qubit threshold necessary for fault-tolerant quantum computing would demand extensive facilities and investments amounting to billions.

Isentroniq is taking a bold step to tackle this wiring crisis. The startup’s technology promises to integrate up to 1,000 times more qubits within existing cryostats. By minimizing heat transfer, physical bulk, and cabling costs, Isentroniq could potentially reduce the cost of a million-qubit machine from tens of billions to approximately €50 million, representing a significant leap toward commercially viable quantum computing.

Funding to Propel Innovation in Quantum Technology

To support its mission, Isentroniq secured funding led by Heartcore, with additional backing from OVNI Capital, Kima Ventures, iXcore, Better Angle, Epsilon VC, and support from Bpifrance and the French National Research Agency (ANR) as part of the France 2030 initiative. This capital will enable the Paris-based company to expand its engineering team, advance its proprietary wiring technology, and establish industrial partnerships to create a plug-and-play infrastructure solution for quantum computer developers.

Isentroniq adopts a fabless model, designing the architecture while collaborating with specialized global partners for production. This strategy ensures high-quality industrial standards and accelerates deployment while minimizing capital expenditure.

Founders with Vision and Expertise

The company’s founders, Dr. Paul Magnard and Théodore Amar, bring a wealth of experience in both science and business. Dr. Magnard, who holds a PhD from ETH Zurich and previously served as lead architect at Alice & Bob, possesses deep expertise in superconducting qubits and has multiple publications in the journal Nature. His co-founder, Amar, has a background in management consulting at Bain & Company and engineering at Hilti, providing a strong focus on market strategy and operational scaling.

As major technology companies such as Google, IBM, Amazon, and Rigetti strive to meet million-qubit milestones, Isentroniq’s innovative solution could serve as a foundational element that makes these ambitions attainable. By addressing key bottlenecks associated with heat, cost, and space, Isentroniq is poised to redefine the landscape of quantum hardware.

Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its team by 2026, creating opportunities for quantum, mechanical, and RF engineers, as well as software specialists. “Today wiring is the #1 bottleneck to scale-up superconducting quantum computers. Our mission is to turn it into an accelerator,” stated Paul Magnard, co-founder and CEO of Isentroniq. “With this funding, we will industrialize a wiring technology capable of supporting million-qubit machines and make quantum computing truly useful for science, industry, and society.”
