Dylan Tait Aims to Impress Against Former Club Hibernian

Falkirk midfielder Dylan Tait is set to face his former club, Hibernian, with a strong desire to prove himself following a challenging tenure at Easter Road. During his three years at Hibs, Tait made only one first-team appearance, which lasted just 13 minutes. He signed with Hibernian in August 2021, but his only outing came in a League Cup victory over Clyde in July 2022.

After his stint with Hibernian, Tait was loaned to several clubs, including Raith Rovers, Kilmarnock, and Arbroath. In the summer of 2024, he made a permanent move to Falkirk, reuniting with former Raith manager John McGlynn. Tait has since made a significant impact at Falkirk, contributing five goals across all competitions this season and helping the team secure successive league winners’ medals.

Reflecting on his time at Hibernian ahead of their match on Tuesday, Tait expressed disappointment over his limited opportunities: “When I signed there, I had expectations to do well. There was a lot of change during my time at Hibs. I had five managers in two years, so I didn’t really get that consistency.”

He acknowledged the importance of taking a step back in order to advance his career, stating, “Playing against your old club, there’s a wee point to prove that I can play at this level and I didn’t quite get that opportunity when I was there.”

Tait’s determination to succeed is evident as he aims to showcase his abilities in the Premiership. “When I moved here, it was my intention to play at this level, but I had to take a longer route. Now I appreciate it a lot,” he added. He credited McGlynn for providing him with the opportunity to thrive: “He gets the best out of me and allows me to play my football.”

McGlynn echoed Tait’s sentiments, highlighting his natural talent and potential. “I always believed he could come back. He’s a natural football player with a good football brain who can hurt teams and score goals. He just needs to add a bit more to his defensive side,” McGlynn remarked.

Tait’s journey through the ranks at Raith Rovers, alongside fellow Scotland international Kieron Bowie, has shaped his development. McGlynn noted Tait’s fearlessness on the pitch: “He relished the opportunities we gave him. He puts everything into a game of football.”

As Falkirk prepares to host Hibernian, Tait is focused on making a significant impact, driven by the desire to demonstrate his capabilities that were overlooked during his time with the Edinburgh club. The upcoming match presents an opportunity for him to not only shine individually but also contribute to Falkirk’s ongoing success in the league.
