Fernandes Open to Saudi Move as Transfer Rumors Heat Up

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes remains receptive to a potential move to a Saudi club, according to recent reports. The 30-year-old, who serves as captain for United, previously declined offers from multiple teams, including Al Hilal and various Scottish Premier League clubs. Despite his decision to stay at Old Trafford for the time being, the interest from Saudi clubs could reignite as the summer transfer window of 2026 approaches.
Al Hilal had proposed a significant fee of £80 million for Fernandes, but he opted to remain with Manchester United, particularly with the upcoming 2026 World Cup on the horizon. United may reconsider their position at the end of the current season when Fernandes will have just one year remaining on his contract, which includes an option for extension until 2028. The club is also exploring options for a new midfielder, with prospective deals estimated to start at around £100 million.
Crystal Palace’s Defender in High Demand
In other transfer news, Liverpool is facing competition from Manchester City in their pursuit of Marc Guéhi, a centre-back currently with Crystal Palace. Guéhi was a primary target for Liverpool throughout the summer transfer window, and although a £35 million bid was accepted by Palace, the deal fell through at the last minute when the club could not secure a replacement.
Liverpool is optimistic about signing the defender for a lower fee in January instead of waiting until the summer when his contract expires. However, Manchester City, along with other clubs, is also keeping an eye on Guéhi, which could complicate matters for Liverpool.
International Players Eyeing European Returns
Meanwhile, Yannick Carrasco, currently with a Saudi Pro League team, is reportedly seeking a return to Europe. The 32-year-old is close to joining Besiktas after being a sought-after player during the summer transfer window. Carrasco is eager to ensure his place in the upcoming World Cup, making this move particularly significant as he aims to maintain his competitive edge.
Additionally, Marcus Thuram has recently attracted interest from Saudi clubs, alongside attention from top European teams. Despite the inquiries, his current team has classified him as non-transferable, emphasizing his importance to their plans moving forward.
As the January transfer window approaches, clubs such as Aston Villa, Leeds United, and Newcastle United are prioritizing their transfer strategies. Crystal Palace has set a valuation of £40 million for one of their strikers, which could shape negotiations in the coming months.
The landscape of international football transfers is constantly evolving, and with high-profile players like Fernandes and Guéhi in the spotlight, fans and clubs alike are eagerly awaiting the next moves in this dynamic market.
