Paul Aron Prepares for Simulator Session After Monza Practice

Following his participation in the first practice session at the Monza circuit, Paul Aron is returning to Alpine’s Enstone base for an intensive overnight simulator session. This move comes as Aron aims to leverage his recent driving experience to enhance the team’s performance ahead of the race weekend.
Maximizing Real-World Experience
During the practice, Aron drove the car typically piloted by Franco Colapinto before returning it to the team’s regular driver, Pierre Gasly. This transition is significant as the team believes that having a driver who has just been on the track can provide invaluable insights for data correlation. “I think there will be no sleep,” Aron remarked in an interview with the official Formula 1 channel, expressing his commitment to the team’s objectives.
Aron emphasized the importance of this unique opportunity, stating, “You don’t get many opportunities to have a driver who’s driven the car during the weekend go back to the sim and have the actual feel of driving the real car.” This approach allows the team to optimize their strategy based on firsthand experience rather than solely relying on telemetry data and video analysis.
Performance and Challenges on Track
In his practice session, Aron concluded with the slowest time among participants, finishing half a second behind Gasly. He encountered a spin at the Roggia chicane, which he later acknowledged as a mistake but one that did not compromise the car’s performance. “There was nothing wrong with the car, and I recovered well,” he explained. “These things can happen, and for sure from my side, I was trying a little bit in that session.”
Despite the challenges, Aron remains optimistic about the potential gains from the simulator session. He recognizes the value of maximizing every opportunity in a competitive environment such as Formula 1. “You need to take everything with both hands,” he stated, reflecting on the intense nature of the sport and the learning experience it offers.
As the team prepares for the next stages of the race weekend, Aron’s efforts in the simulator will be pivotal in shaping Alpine’s approach and strategy. His dedication exemplifies the rigorous demands placed on drivers and the critical role that data plays in modern motorsport.
