A 34-year-old woman has denied allegations of drink-driving during her appearance at Reading Magistrates’ Court. Lara Westbrook, a resident of Oliver Drive, Calcot, is facing charges related to an incident on August 18, where she is accused of operating a Honda Civic while exceeding the legal alcohol limit.

According to the prosecution, breath tests indicated that Ms. Westbrook had 59 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath, notably above the legal threshold of 35 micrograms. During the brief court session on September 24, she was represented by lawyer Beth Vaughan and confirmed her personal details, including her not guilty plea to the single charge of drink-driving.

The Magistrate informed Ms. Westbrook that the proceedings could not continue that day, leading to an adjournment for a trial to be scheduled. Following the hearing, she was released on unconditional bail, allowing her to remain free while awaiting further court action.

As the case develops, it will be closely monitored, highlighting the ongoing issue of road safety and the legal implications of drink-driving offenses.
