As Storm Bran approaches, Britons are hastily booking holidays to escape the impending bad weather. Travel bookings for next Friday and Saturday have surged by 68%, as families take advantage of the school break for a final chance at sunshine abroad.

The increase in holiday reservations comes in response to forecasts predicting that the storm, which is the second of the season, will reach the UK by the end of the month. According to Zoe Harris of the holiday booking site On the Beach, many families are determined to avoid the dismal weather experienced last year.

“Last October’s storms delivered a wet and windy half term for millions,” Harris noted. “This year, Brits clearly aren’t taking any chances; we’re seeing a proper weather rebellion.”

Families are increasingly opting for destinations with guaranteed sunshine, seeking to escape the dreary conditions. Popular locations include Antalya, Majorca, Costa del Sol, Lanzarote, and Costa Blanca, all offering mid-20s temperatures and clear skies.

Harris explained, “If you can’t beat the weather, fly away from it. Whether it’s chasing 25 degrees in the Canaries or topping up the tan in Turkey, Brits just want one last dose of vitamin sea before winter truly hits.”

Travel experts anticipate a further spike in bookings as the storm’s likelihood becomes more certain. Harris added, “As soon as weather presenters start confirming the storm, we’ll be braced for a significant uplift in late bookings, potentially up 100%. Bad weather at home is the best advert for holidays abroad.”

With families eager to escape the gloom, it seems that Storm Bran has inadvertently created a surge in demand for sunny getaways, highlighting a resilient spirit among Britons determined to enjoy their time off.
