Two drug dealers involved in an extensive supply operation in Hereford and nearby market towns have received significant prison sentences. Ashley Jones, 26, and Richard Randall, 31, were both convicted of multiple drug-related offenses, highlighting the serious nature of their criminal activities.

Details of the Operation

Jones, a resident of Stoney Street in Hereford, was found guilty of being involved in the supply of a class A drug, specifically cocaine, as well as a class B drug, cannabis. He was also charged with affray and possessing criminal property. Randall, who shares the same address, was convicted of possession with intent to supply cocaine and involvement in the supply of cannabis.

On September 19, 2023, the Worcester Crown Court sentenced Jones to six years and eight months in prison. Randall received a sentence of three years and nine months. The investigation led by West Mercia Police began when Jones was identified as the leader of a sophisticated drug supply network that not only dealt in cocaine and cannabis but also produced and supplied cannabis edibles.

Police Action and Evidence Seized

Jones was arrested on April 3 after police uncovered his operation. During the arrest, he was found in possession of an air rifle, which he was prohibited from owning due to a prior conviction. This led to additional charges. The police seized significant quantities of illegal substances, including cocaine valued at over £30,000, cannabis worth another £30,000, and cannabis edibles estimated at over £5,000. A substantial amount of cash was also recovered from Jones’s possession.

Detective Constable Lia Williams from Hereford CID commented on the operation, stating, “The investigation into Jones and Randall’s criminality was lengthy and meticulous. It was evident that the use and threat of violence were means of growing their business and maintaining dominance in the drug supply market.”

Williams welcomed the sentences, expressing hope that they would deter others from engaging in similar activities. “The misery of drugs in the community is well known; however, both Jones and Randall profited from this suffering and showed no remorse for their actions,” she added.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by drug-related crime and the commitment of law enforcement to combat these issues within communities.
