Gordon Ramsay is set to bring back the popular cooking competition Hell’s Kitchen to the UK, more than a decade after its last broadcast. The revival is anticipated to take place in 2024, following the format’s success in various international markets. Originally launched on ITV in 2004, the show featured notable contestants, including actress Amanda Barrie, and ran until 2009.

After concluding its UK run, Ramsay shifted his focus to the American edition, which premiered on Fox in 2005. This version has thrived, completing its twenty-third season earlier this year. Reports indicate that Ramsay is now in discussions to return to the UK with a fresh iteration of Hell’s Kitchen and is expected to reprise his role as head chef.

Plans for Restaurants and Trademark Secured

In a strategic move, Ramsay is also considering launching Hell’s Kitchen restaurants in the UK, similar to his successful ventures in the United States. A source close to Ramsay revealed to the Sun that fans will be excited not only about the show’s return but also about the opportunity to dine in a Hell’s Kitchen restaurant locally. The source described this undertaking as a “smart move,” noting that the show is broadcast in over 100 countries, potentially attracting tourists and new viewers alike.

On January 27, 2023, Ramsay secured a trademark for the Hell’s Kitchen brand in the UK, allowing its use for both restaurant and entertainment purposes. The trademark was officially registered on April 18, 2023, and is set for renewal on January 27, 2035. This suggests that the restaurant could open shortly after the show’s premiere on ITV.

Inspiration from American Success

Ramsay’s first Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in the US opened in Las Vegas in 2018, situated opposite Caesars Palace. This venue, designed to accommodate over 300 guests, features red and blue kitchens that reflect the show’s competitive nature. According to its website, the restaurant aims to provide diners with an experience akin to being on the studio set.

Since then, Ramsay has expanded his brand with additional locations in cities such as Atlantic City, Miami, and Washington D.C. In a statement, he expressed a sense of nostalgia for the concept, stating, “There is a lot of nostalgia behind this concept of Hell’s Kitchen. The restaurant on set is exactly the same as the one we have built here, from the [colours of the] red and blue teams to the banquets to the chef tables.”

As anticipation builds for the UK revival, the combination of a returning television show and prospective restaurants could create significant buzz for Ramsay’s brand, engaging a new generation of fans while catering to established audiences.
