Influencer and Daughter Found Dead in Apartment, Investigation Underway

Authorities are investigating the tragic deaths of social media influencer Lidiane Aline Lorenco, aged 33, and her 15-year-old daughter, Miana Sophya Santos, who were found dead in their apartment in Rio de Janeiro. Neighbours reported a foul odour emanating from the eleventh-floor flat, prompting police action on March 15, 2024.

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro responded to the alarming reports after the two had not been seen for several days. Upon arrival, officers gained access to the apartment by breaking down the door. Inside, they discovered Lidiane in a bedroom and Miana in the living room, both believed to have been deceased for some time.

Lidiane, who had amassed over 54,000 followers on Instagram, had relocated to Rio de Janeiro from Santa Cecília a few years prior. She was not only an influencer but also a model and a student of medicine. Miana had recently moved into the apartment in Rio and was attending the Irma Irene Basic Education School in Santa Cecília.

Authorities have yet to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths. The police confirmed they are actively pursuing leads in this case. As the investigation continues, the community is left in shock, grappling with the loss of the two.

Both bodies were transported back to Santa Cecília for burial over the weekend, with the service taking place on Sunday. This incident is a stark reminder of the challenges facing the community and highlights the urgent need for safety and support systems.

In a separate incident, the Brazilian public is also mourning the loss of a little girl who was left orphaned after her parents tragically died in a motel bathtub due to overheating. The couple, identified as military police officer Jeferson Luiz Sagaz and his partner Ana Carolina Silva, were found in a bathtub filled with water heated to 50°C, which raised serious concerns regarding safety practices in hospitality settings.

As investigations unfold, the nation is also grappling with reports of a law student accused of a series of murders, further deepening the sense of unease in Brazilian society.
