Mother Loses 5 Stone in 5 Months, Transforms Health and Finances

A mother from Greater Manchester, Donique Wint, has achieved remarkable changes in her life by losing five stone in five months through the use of weight loss injections known as Mounjaro. This transformation not only improved her health but also helped her address a significant shopping addiction that previously cost her around £500 per month.
At 18 stone, Donique struggled with her weight, largely attributed to her fondness for fast food and snacks, including Nando’s and Haribo sweets. In addition to her dietary challenges, she found herself spending evenings engaged in online shopping, accumulating impulsive purchases on trainers, clothing, and extravagant trips, including a £5,000 holiday to Jamaica for her family.
The turning point came in February 2025 when, after reaching a size 22, Donique decided to invest in her health by using the GLP-1 medication, Mounjaro, at a cost of £160 per month. The effects were swift and significant. Within the first week, she lost 7 lbs, and over the following months, she experienced not only a reduction in her food cravings but also a noticeable decline in her desire to shop online.
Donique attributes her success to the medication, stating, “It switched off my craving for food and my addiction to shopping.” By the end of her initial two months on Mounjaro, she had lost a total of one stone and found herself less inclined to indulge in late-night shopping sprees.
Transforming Lifestyle and Priorities
The changes in Donique’s life have been profound. Now weighing 13 stone 11 lbs and wearing a size 12, she has redirected her focus from shopping to maintaining her health. She spends her spare time at the gym rather than scrolling through online stores. With her newfound energy, she feels like a better mother, enjoying a more active lifestyle with her children.
Donique has openly acknowledged her struggles with weight and impulse control, suggesting that she may have ADHD tendencies. According to Think ADHD, an NHS GP-led service, such tendencies can significantly affect impulse regulation, contributing to behaviors like excessive shopping.
Reflecting on her past habits, she recalls, “I was so unhappy in my body because of my lifestyle, I’d use shopping as a quick fix.” This included late-night shopping sessions where she would buy a range of items, from electric salt and pepper shakers to makeup. The fleeting satisfaction from these purchases did not last, and she realized that her compulsions were unsustainable.
Financial and Emotional Relief
Since starting Mounjaro, Donique has managed to save up to £500 a month by curbing her previous spending habits on snacks and online shopping. “Everything is calmer now,” she explains. “Food noise has died down, so have my spending impulses.” This financial relief has allowed her to focus on more meaningful activities, enhancing her quality of life.
The positive changes have also impacted how others perceive her. Donique reports feeling more confident and has noticed a shift in how strangers treat her. “My confidence is better and I get more acknowledgement from strangers,” she says, appreciating the changes that have come with her weight loss.
In summary, Donique Wint’s journey illustrates not just a physical transformation but also a significant shift in her lifestyle and emotional well-being. Through Mounjaro, she has found a pathway to better health, financial stability, and a renewed sense of self. Her story serves as an inspiration for those struggling with similar challenges, showcasing the potential for change and the importance of seeking the right help.
