A tragic incident occurred at an Oasis concert on August 2, 2023, when a fan, identified as Lee Claydon, fell to his death at Wembley Stadium. The 45-year-old landscape gardener from Bournemouth, Dorset, suffered what the official inquest described as “multiple bodily injuries.”

The inquest began at Barnet Coroner’s Court, where senior coroner Andrew Walker presided over the proceedings. Mr. Claydon was transported to a medical facility in Wembley following the fall but was pronounced dead at 22:38. A post-mortem examination conducted on August 6 indicated that the cause of death was indeed “multiple bodily injuries.”

Detective Inspector Aimee-Leigh Sando provided an update during the inquest, stating that the police investigation is ongoing. She noted that a comprehensive review of all available evidence, including CCTV footage, is underway. “We are looking to complete statements from significant witnesses who were present during the fall,” Ms. Sando explained. She added that a substantial number of individuals had come forward following a media request for information.

The inquest has been adjourned until a pre-inquest hearing scheduled for November 19, 2023, at 10:00. Mr. Walker confirmed the continuation of the inquiry into Mr. Claydon’s death, emphasizing the importance of gathering all relevant information before proceeding further.

The incident took place during the band’s Live ’25 reunion tour, marking their first series of shows since their split in 2009. The band expressed their condolences in a statement, saying, “Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.” The loss has drawn attention to concert safety and the measures in place to protect attendees during large-scale events.

As investigations continue, the focus remains on understanding the circumstances surrounding this tragic event and ensuring the safety of concertgoers in the future.
