Serious A30 Collision Injures Four, Including Young Children
A serious collision on the A30 near Sherborne has resulted in four individuals suffering significant injuries, including two young boys aged seven and nine. The incident occurred on December 18, 2023, prompting an immediate response from emergency services, including an air ambulance.
Dorset Police received reports of the crash at 21:13 local time, involving a white Range Rover and a blue Renault Clio on the stretch of road between Castle Town Way and Oborne Road. Following the collision, the carriageway was closed to facilitate emergency operations and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.
The boys were airlifted to hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for serious injuries. A woman in her 30s was also transported by air ambulance, while a man in his 30s was taken to the hospital via road ambulance. Both adults are undergoing treatment for serious injuries, and their next of kin have been informed.
In connection with the incident, police arrested a man in his 40s from Yeovil on suspicion of driving offences. He is receiving medical attention for injuries that are not considered serious. Road closures remain in effect as officers continue their investigation at the scene.
Police Appeal for Information
Sergeant Dave Cotterill from the Roads Policing Team stated, “We are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened.” He encouraged individuals who were in the area around the time of the crash to review any dashcam footage that may assist in the investigation.
