Berane’s Football Club Faces Turmoil After Coaching Resignations
The Berane Football Club is currently facing significant challenges following the resignation of its head coach, Boban Aković, along with his assistants, Marko Lalević and Zoran Aković, as well as the sports director, Admir Adrović. The team, which has maintained an unbeaten streak in the Second League, leading the table after nine matches, is now grappling with internal discord that has prompted this mass departure.
Under Aković’s leadership, Berane has experienced a remarkable season, remaining undefeated and conceding only two goals in the league. Despite these accomplishments, Aković expressed his disappointment in leaving the club, citing a lack of alignment with the club’s management. In a statement reported by Vijesti, he noted, “After three months, I am leaving my club due to disagreements with the management. It is with a heavy heart that I make this decision, especially since we achieved excellent results in a short time, primarily with players from Berane.”
Aković emphasized the support he received from both players and fans during his tenure. He acknowledged the contributions of his coaching staff and the return of supporters to the stadium, stating, “We brought the audience back to the stadium, and the fans created an atmosphere that all of Montenegro was talking about.”
He further elaborated on the challenges he faced, indicating that some individuals within the club’s management either do not respect agreements or fail to fulfill their obligations. “Some in the management clearly do not have the interests of football in Berane at heart, which I cannot accept,” Aković stated. He expressed his hopes for the club’s future, wishing it well in its pursuit of a place in the top league.
In a related statement, sports director Admir Adrović echoed Aković’s sentiments regarding the club’s struggles. He described their journey as a “beautiful story” that faced misunderstandings and unfulfilled promises. Adrović remarked that it was illogical for a successful coach to feel compelled to leave, indicating that this situation left him with no other choice.
As Berane seeks to navigate this unexpected transition, the club’s future remains uncertain. With strong performances on the pitch, the internal strife presents a critical juncture that will require swift resolution to ensure continued success in the Second League. The next steps for the club will be closely monitored as fans and stakeholders await updates on potential replacements and strategies moving forward.
