Celebrating a Decade of Monsters: Kasing Lung’s Exhibition Arrives in Hong Kong
The highly anticipated exhibition, MONSTERS BY MONSTERS: NOW AND THEN, is set to open at the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre from December 15, 2025, to January 4, 2026. This event marks the tenth anniversary of Kasing Lung’s beloved characters, LABUBU and THE MONSTERS, and follows successful showcases in Shanghai and Taipei.
The exhibition invites visitors into an immersive “enchanted forest” experience, blending the realms of fantasy and reality. It features a rich collection of original artworks, precious sketches, and designer toy displays, offering a comprehensive look at the evolution of these whimsical creatures. The exhibition’s theme, “Now and Then,” allows attendees to trace the artistic journey of Lung’s creations over the past decade.
Kasing Lung, who draws inspiration from Norse mythology, first introduced LABUBU and THE MONSTERS through his renowned Fairy Trilogy. Since then, these characters have transcended cultural boundaries, becoming symbols of contemporary art that resonate with audiences worldwide.
The exhibition includes several themed zones. The Designer Toys Zone chronicles the development of LABUBU, while the Interactive Zone highlights collaborations, such as the one with POP MART. This event holds special significance for Lung, who emigrated in his youth, as it represents a heartfelt return to his roots and a tribute to the characters central to his artistic identity.
As the exhibition opens, visitors can expect an engaging atmosphere that celebrates both the history and future of these iconic characters. Sponsored by HSBC, the exhibition aims to connect fans with the magical world that has captivated audiences for years.
The arrival of this exhibition not only commemorates a decade of creativity but also serves as a platform for Kasing Lung to share the stories behind his creations. With its blend of art, interactivity, and nostalgia, MONSTERS BY MONSTERS: NOW AND THEN promises to be an unforgettable experience for both longtime fans and new visitors alike.
