Contract Signed for €2.4 Million Sozina Tunnel Renovation
Monteput d.o.o. has signed a contract worth €2,411,034 with the Podgorica-based company, Građevinarstvo i savjetovanje, for renovation work on the Sozina Tunnel. The agreement, announced by Monteput, details a comprehensive plan to repair cracks within the tunnel by utilizing injection methods, followed by a final coating of the tunnel’s lining.
The planned renovations will include the injection of both wet and dry cracks, reprofiling of the secondary tunnel lining and dilatations, as well as the application of a protective coating. Each phase of the work will undergo ongoing testing to ensure quality control and verify the technical integrity of the completed tasks.
Project Timeline and Work Schedule
The contract was officially signed on November 24, 2025, with a completion deadline of 550 days. Renovation work will primarily take place during nighttime hours, specifically from 22:00 to 06:00. Notably, all work will be suspended from June 15, 2026, to September 15, 2026, in consideration of the tourist season and increased traffic toward the coastal areas.
Monteput has committed to providing enhanced professional oversight and coordination of all parties involved in the project. This initiative aims to ensure that the renovation adheres to current technical standards for tunnel structures.
Public Information and Safety Measures
As the project progresses, Monteput will keep the public and tunnel users informed about any temporary changes to traffic regulations. Drivers are urged to respect the posted signage and restrictions in the construction zone. The primary goal of the reconstruction is to maintain the stability of the tunnel structure while improving long-term safety and traffic quality through the Sozina Tunnel.
In the last three years, Monteput has invested over €3.36 million in the modernization and maintenance of systems within the Sozina and Raš tunnels, as well as the access roads. These efforts have included localized roadway repairs, initial phases of secondary lining restoration, replacement of worn asphalt layers on open roads and bridges, and upgrades to adaptive lighting and video surveillance systems within the tunnels. Additionally, the project has enhanced slope security in cuttings and improved passive safety systems, as stated in the announcement.
