Sandy Park Christmas Lights Switch-On Set for December 6
The annual Sandy Park Road Christmas Lights switch-on in Brislington has been scheduled for December 6, 2025. This cherished community event draws large crowds each year, marking the beginning of the festive season.
Festivities will commence at 2 PM and continue until 6 PM, as detailed in a recent announcement on the official Sandy Park Locals and Traders Facebook page. The event typically features a vibrant atmosphere filled with holiday cheer, attracting families and friends from the local area.
Fundraising Efforts Underway
Organisers are reaching out to the community for support to ensure the event’s continuation. They have initiated a fundraising campaign with a goal of £2,500 to cover essential costs such as bulb replacements, light testing, and enhancing the festive display.
The current total raised stands at £485 as of October 16, 2025. Contributions can be made through a dedicated JustGiving page set up for this purpose. The organisers stated, “We’re raising funds to replace bulbs, test the lights and bring more colour than ever. Support the spirit of Christmas by making your donation.”
The Sandy Park Road Christmas Light Switch-On is described by its organisers as a “much-loved tradition” that unites the Brislington community. They emphasised that the event is entirely funded by local residents and traders, with no external financial support.
Community Spirit and Engagement
In previous years, donations were collected via physical pots, but this year, the organisers have transitioned to an online model for greater accessibility. They noted, “Every single donation, big or small, will go directly towards lighting up Sandy Park Road and keeping this wonderful tradition alive for everyone to enjoy.”
The team underscored the significance of the event, stating, “Your support means more than just twinkling lights. It means joy for children, festive spirit for families, and a thriving local high street at Christmas time.”
To contribute to this festive initiative and help maintain the community’s holiday spirit, donations can be made via the JustGiving page linked in the announcement. The success of this year’s switch-on depends on the collective effort of the community, ensuring that the lights shine brightly once again in Brislington.
