A sudden tragedy has struck the RNLI community in Scotland with the passing of Kerry Gentle at the age of 34. Kerry, who was not only a dedicated RNLI volunteer at the Dunbar station but also the owner of The Crow’s Perch tattoo studio in East Linton, East Lothian, is being remembered fondly by colleagues and clients alike.

The news of her untimely death has left the staff at RNLI Dunbar “deeply shocked and saddened.” A spokesperson expressed that Kerry was an “absolute delight,” highlighting her enthusiasm and dedication. She joined the RNLI after participating in a recruitment event aimed at encouraging more women to become involved with the organization. Kerry had recently completed her training as a shore crew member and was in the process of training for the lifeboat crew when she passed away.

Described as an “amazing artist” by the Scottish Tattoo Convention (STC), she specialized in unique designs, fostering a welcoming and judgment-free space for her clients. Kerry often referred to The Crow’s Perch as her “safe space,” where she collaborated with clients to create personalized tattoos.

The STC shared its grief on social media, stating, “We are saddened to hear of the passing of one of our dearest friends. Kerry was an amazing artist, and a great friend. She’ll be missed by all at the STC, her friends and clients.” This sentiment was echoed by many who knew her, reinforcing the profound impact she had on those around her.

Kerry’s artistic philosophy was evident in her approach to tattooing. In a statement on The Crow’s Perch website, she expressed, “I specialise in one of a kind designs that we will collaborate on together to create the perfect tattoo for you.
