Stagecoach East Offers Free Travel to Veterans on Remembrance Day
Stagecoach East, a prominent bus operator based in Peterborough, has announced that it will provide free travel to veterans and active military personnel on Remembrance Day. This initiative aims to support those attending remembrance services across the UK.
Supporting Veterans and Active Military
The offer encompasses any serving military member or cadet in uniform, individuals holding a military ID card, and veterans displaying medals or badges while participating in memorial events. Ross Barton, Operations Director of Stagecoach East, expressed the company’s commitment to honoring those who have served. He stated, “Remembrance Day, Armistice Day, and the Poppy Appeal are causes close to the hearts of many of our colleagues and customers. We are very pleased to be making this commitment that will hopefully help people attend memorials across the UK.”
This initiative is part of a broader effort by Stagecoach to support the armed forces community. The company employs many former service members and has established a Veterans Network to foster a supportive environment for its staff. This network plays a crucial role in promoting awareness and implementing initiatives that benefit veterans both within the company and beyond.
Commitment to the Armed Forces Community
Stagecoach East has been a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant since March 2015. This covenant serves to acknowledge the contributions of serving military, reservists, veterans, and military families throughout the country. Furthermore, Stagecoach has been recognized as a Gold award holder in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme for its dedication to supporting the armed forces community.
The free travel initiative not only reflects Stagecoach’s commitment to honoring veterans but also enhances their recruitment efforts. By actively engaging with the veteran community, the company seeks to attract more former service members to join their workforce.
As Remembrance Day approaches, Stagecoach East’s initiative stands as a testament to the importance of recognizing and supporting those who have served in the military, ensuring they can participate in commemorative events without financial burden.
