Slash Addresses Axl Rose’s Onstage Incident at Buenos Aires Concert
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has provided clarification following Axl Rose‘s recent onstage incident during a concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina, asserting that the outburst had no connection to the band’s new drummer, Isaac Carpenter. The incident occurred on October 25, 2023, when Rose abruptly kicked Carpenter’s bass drum during the opening performance of “Welcome To The Jungle,” later leaving the stage briefly before returning to continue the show.
In an interview on Trunk Nation, Slash detailed the circumstances surrounding Rose’s actions, attributing the outburst to technical issues rather than any dissatisfaction with Carpenter’s performance. He explained that the band uses in-ear monitors instead of traditional stage wedges, and Rose experienced problems with his mix, hearing only the drums during the first song.
“It got so blown out of proportion,” Slash remarked, emphasizing that the situation arose from a moment of confusion rather than any animosity towards the new drummer. He noted that Rose was attempting to communicate the issue to the sound engineers, who were not aware of the problem. “He was pointing out that it’s the drums – it’s not something else,” Slash said.
The band released a statement to further clarify that Carpenter’s drumming was not to blame for the incident. They praised his skill and contribution to the group, stating, “the situation had nothing to do with Isaac Carpenter’s playing, who is top-notch and a great drummer.”
Since joining Guns N’ Roses, Carpenter has brought a renewed energy to the band’s performances. Slash applauded Carpenter’s talent and attitude, saying, “Isaac’s killer. It’s been great. From the first day that he came in to audition, he’s just been amazing.” He expressed that Carpenter’s presence has positively impacted the overall dynamic of their shows.
The band is currently touring with their “What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things” tour and is set to perform in several locations across Brazil and Peru in the coming days. The remaining tour dates include:
– October 28: Curitiba, Pedreira Paulo Leminski, Brazil
– October 31: Cuiabá, Arena Pantanal, Brazil
– November 2: Brasília, Arena BSB, Brazil
– November 5: Lima, Estadio Nacional, Peru
– November 8: Mexico City, Estadio GNP Seguros, Mexico
With the recent incident behind them, Guns N’ Roses continues to captivate fans with their live performances, showcasing both new and classic material.
