Tribute Ceremony to Honor Petar II Petrović Njegoš on November 13
A ceremony to lay a wreath at the monument of Petar II Petrović Njegoš will take place on November 13, marking the anniversary of his significant contributions. The event is organized by the group STEGA and is set to begin at 11:00 AM in Lovćen Street, near the Church of Ivan Crnojević in Cetinje.
Under the slogan “Bio i ostatao Crnogorski,” participants will gather to pay homage to Njegoš, a pivotal figure in Montenegrin history and literature. Following the gathering, attendees will proceed to Lovćen, a mountain that holds deep cultural and historical significance for Montenegro.
The organizers emphasized the connection between the nation’s identity and its natural landmarks, stating, “Postojaće Crna Gora dok je Lovćen i Durmitora,” which translates to “Montenegro will exist as long as Lovćen and Durmitor are present.” This underscores the enduring legacy of Njegoš and the importance of preserving Montenegro’s cultural heritage.
The ceremony represents an opportunity for community members to come together in remembrance and reflection, reinforcing the ties that bind them to their national identity. With such gatherings, STEGA aims to inspire a sense of pride and continuity among Montenegrins, honoring those who have shaped the country’s past.
As the event approaches, local officials and community leaders are expected to participate, further enhancing the significance of this tribute to Njegoš. The ceremony not only honors a historical figure but also celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of Montenegro, linking past achievements to contemporary national pride.
