Tributes Pour in for Pregnant Woman Killed in Co Antrim Crash
Heartfelt tributes have emerged following the tragic death of Cathrene Kith Quiñones Singco and her unborn baby in a car accident in Co Antrim on January 11, 2026. The accident occurred around 14:00 on Moira Road, near Nutts Corner, when a collision involving a blue Ford Fiesta and a silver Skoda Superb left Ms. Singco fatally injured.
Cathrene, a healthcare worker originally from Davao City in the Philippines, was a backseat passenger in one of the vehicles. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital, where her unborn child was also pronounced dead. Her husband, Ralph Singco, remains hospitalized and is reportedly in critical condition.
Emergency services, including the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS), and an air ambulance, responded swiftly to the scene. A total of eight individuals were transported to hospitals in the aftermath of the crash, with four taken to Antrim Area Hospital and the others to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
Community Grieves and Remembers
The community is reeling from the loss, with friends and family sharing emotional tributes online. Just hours before the accident, Cathrene marked her sixth wedding anniversary with a nostalgic Facebook post. It featured a video of her and Ralph dancing in the snow during a trip to Jungfraujoch, Switzerland, alongside a heartfelt message expressing hope for their future family.
One friend reflected on their last reunion in Belfast, highlighting the couple’s dreams and aspirations. “They had dreams. They had plans. They were carrying a new life,” the friend wrote. The post poignantly declared, “Your kindness, your smiles, your hopes live on in the hearts you touched.”
Witnesses have described the crash site as a “death trap,” raising concerns about road safety in the area. Local residents are calling for urgent improvements to the road, citing the increasing danger as commercial developments expand. “Now is the time for road service to make drastic changes,” one resident stated.
Investigation Underway
In light of the tragic event, PSNI Detective Inspector Stewart from the Collision Investigation Unit confirmed that an investigation is underway. He expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.” The PSNI is appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of the incident to come forward.
According to a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), the call for assistance was received at 14:05, prompting the dispatch of six emergency ambulances and additional medical teams.
As tributes continue to pour in, the community is left grappling with the impact of a tragedy that claimed not only a life but also a future filled with promise. The heartfelt messages of remembrance underline the deep connections shared by Cathrene and Ralph with those around them, and their legacy will undoubtedly live on in the memories of their loved ones.
