Chris Chibnall is set to return to ITV with his new series, Death at the White Hart, an adaptation of his own novel published earlier this year. While currently promoting his upcoming Netflix series, Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, Chibnall shared insights into the adaptation process and his creative journey during an exclusive interview for The Radio Times Writers’ Room.

In the interview, Chibnall discussed the challenges and excitement of transforming his written work into a television series. “You’ve got different hats, really,” he explained. “You have to find the voice for the adaptation that is slightly different from the book.” He emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “We’re working with a great team on that – just quite early days in adapting that.”

Having previously tackled adaptations, Chibnall feels well-equipped for this project. “It’s nice because I know the world and all that kind of stuff, and then you’re just doing a different job,” he said. This experience is particularly valuable after his work on Seven Dials, which has further honed his skills in adaptation.

Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, set to launch on Netflix on January 15, 2026, is based on Christie’s 1929 novel, The Seven Dials Mystery. The series stars Mia McKenna-Bruce as the amateur detective Lady Eileen ‘Bundle’ Brent. The storyline unfolds at a lavish country house party in 1925, where a practical joke spirals into a chilling mystery that only Lady Brent can unravel.

During the conversation, Chibnall also touched on his previous work on popular series such as Broadchurch, Doctor Who, and Torchwood. He revealed that he initially developed a version of Merlin that ultimately did not make it to screens.

Fans can anticipate more details about Death at the White Hart as Chibnall continues to refine the adaptation. The series will air on ITV1 and ITVX, promising to deliver the same engaging storytelling that has characterized Chibnall’s previous works.

The full interview with Chris Chibnall will be available to watch on Thursday, January 15. For updates on upcoming series and recommendations, audiences can check out The Radio Times Podcast and the What to Watch app.
