Popular Newcastle Greggs Shop Closes Due to Till Issues
A popular Greggs shop located on Blackett Street in Newcastle city centre has been closed for three consecutive days, beginning on Thursday, March 14, 2024. The temporary closure is attributed to ongoing issues with the tills, leaving customers disappointed during a busy shopping period.
A staff member confirmed that the closure was unexpected and due to malfunctioning tills, stating, “the tills weren’t working.” This situation has raised concerns among local patrons who frequent the shop, particularly as the closure coincides with a home match for Newcastle United on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The shop’s closure means that many fans looking for a quick meal or snack before the game will need to seek alternatives.
Despite the closure of the Blackett Street location, customers have nearby options. There are several other Greggs outlets within a short walking distance, including stores inside Eldon Square, on Grey Street, and on Northumberland Street. These alternatives are conveniently located just a five to ten-minute walk from the closed shop, ensuring that fans and residents can still satisfy their cravings.
A notice affixed to the shop’s door informs customers of the closure, stating, “Sorry we are closed today.” As of now, it remains uncertain whether the store will reopen in time for the anticipated Sunday rush.
Attempts to reach Greggs for further comment on the situation have not yet yielded a response. The company is known for its popular bakery products, and any disruption in service could impact local patrons significantly.
