Anton Du Beke Unmasked as Arctic Fox on The Masked Singer
The popular guessing game show, The Masked Singer, took an unexpected turn when beloved television personality Anton Du Beke was revealed as the Arctic Fox. The 59-year-old star, known for his long-standing role as a judge on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, surprised fans by participating in the ITV competition.
During his time on the show, Du Beke delivered a captivating performance of Barbra Streisand‘s “Woman in Love,” which impressed both viewers and judges alike. The judging panel, comprising Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross, and guest panellist Perrie Edwards of Little Mix, speculated about the identity of the masked celebrity throughout the season.
After his unmasking, Du Beke expressed his gratitude to the show and its producers. He told host Joel Dommett, “I’ve loved every second of it, it’s been the most wonderful thing so thank you!” Despite the joy of performing, he admitted feeling “devastated” by being voted off the show.
Du Beke revealed that his motivation to join the competition stemmed from his enthusiasm as a fan of the program. He wanted to create a memorable experience for his eight-year-old twins, whom he shares with wife Hannah Summers. He said, “It’s such a lovely show… I’m just a huge fan and I know my children are loving this.” Keeping his participation a secret from them added to the excitement.
“I haven’t told them I’m on the show. So when they see the unveiling, they are going to be overwhelmed. It’s going to be brilliant!” Du Beke added. His experience included working with vocal coaches and performing songs from artists like Shirley Bassey and Tony Hadley.
Du Beke’s exit from the competition coincided with a double elimination, shortly after singer Kate Nash was unmasked as Monkey Business. Nash, who performed “As Long As He Needs Me” from the musical Oliver!, shared her own nerves about the experience. “I was so nervous about it but then I got really nervous about the mask coming off,” she said. “It’s like a little comfort zone… It was a unique experience.”
As both stars depart the competition, their performances will surely be remembered by fans of The Masked Singer, adding to the show’s thrilling legacy.
