Budućnost Aims for Redemption Against Zagreb After Partizan Loss
The women’s basketball team Budućnost Bemaks is looking to bounce back from a recent defeat against Partizan as they prepare to face Zagreb tomorrow in the WABA League. The match, scheduled for 16:30, is crucial for Budućnost’s hopes of securing the top position in the league standings.
Having traveled to Zagreb late last night, the team is determined to regain momentum after their previous loss. A win against Zagreb is essential to keep their championship aspirations alive, especially since Budućnost holds a strong record in head-to-head matchups against their competitors.
Marija Baošić, the point guard for Budućnost, stated, “We had little time to prepare, but we focused on getting ready for this duel right after returning from Belgrade. We know this will be a challenging away game, so we are taking precautions. There were good moments against Partizan, but we made many mistakes. We’ve worked on that in the past few days, and I believe we will perform better against Zagreb.”
Budućnost has a clear strategy in mind: securing three victories in their remaining matches will guarantee them the top spot. The upcoming game in Zagreb, however, holds significant weight. Despite being positioned lower in the league standings, the team remains wary of Zagreb’s recent improvements.
“Zagreb strengthened their squad at the end of the transfer window with the return of Marta Ostojić, making them much stronger now. They have a better roster than in the first half of the season, and it has shown that teams struggle to secure wins when playing at their home court. Therefore, their position on the table should not deceive us,” Baošić remarked.
As the season reaches its final stages, every game becomes increasingly critical. Budućnost will also face tough competition from Partizan and Montana in upcoming matches. The intensity of these encounters could be pivotal for the league standings.
“There are still three rounds left, and much can happen. But we are focusing solely on the game in Zagreb. We need to react after our loss in Belgrade and be ready for 40 minutes of high energy. Achieving a victory would mean a lot for us,” Baošić emphasized.
The upcoming match against Zagreb is set to be a test of resilience for Budućnost Bemaks as they aim to keep their championship dreams alive in the WABA League.
