Trump Claims New Epstein Documents Exonerate Him Amid Release
President Donald Trump has stated that newly released documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein “exonerate” him from any allegations. This follows the United States Department of Justice’s recent disclosure of over three million pages of documents connected to Epstein’s case. Although Trump has yet to review the documents personally, he claims that credible sources have informed him of their content.
During a press briefing aboard Air Force One, Trump remarked, “I have not seen the documents personally, but I have been told by very important people that they not only exonerate me but also show the opposite of what the radical left and others expected.” His comments come amid scrutiny of his past association with Epstein, which Trump has acknowledged but insists ended years ago.
The extensive release, which includes over two thousand videos and approximately 180,000 photographs, aims to provide clarity on what the government knew about Epstein’s sexual abuse of minors and his connections to powerful individuals. The Department of Justice made this information public under the Epstein Records Transparency Act, a law enacted following mounting public and political pressure for accountability regarding Epstein’s actions and those of his associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell.
Todd Blanch, Deputy Attorney General, explained at a press conference that the release marks the conclusion of a significant process to ensure transparency for the American public and compliance with the law. Despite the extensive release, not all documents have been made public; sensitive information, including data that could compromise ongoing investigations or reveal the identities of victims, has been redacted.
The total number of documents reviewed has reached approximately six million, including duplicates. Previous disclosures from December included tens of thousands of pages, such as photographs, call logs, and court records. Notably, these documents contained flight logs indicating that Trump flew on Epstein’s private jet in the 1990s before their falling out, alongside several photographs of former President Bill Clinton.
Neither Trump nor Clinton has faced criminal charges related to Epstein. Both have denied any knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of minors. Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in August 2019, a month after being indicted on federal charges of sex trafficking. Maxwell was convicted in New York in 2021 for sex trafficking and is currently serving a 20-year sentence in Texas.
Despite the extensive investigations, U.S. prosecutors have not charged anyone else in connection with Epstein’s abuse. One victim, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, has filed lawsuits alleging that Epstein orchestrated sexual encounters with numerous politicians and business figures, all of whom have denied the allegations. Among those implicated was Prince Andrew, who settled a lawsuit for an undisclosed sum and subsequently relinquished royal titles.
The release of these documents continues to unfold, revealing new layers of complexity surrounding Epstein’s operations and the individuals connected to him. As the investigation progresses, public interest remains high concerning the implications for those previously associated with Epstein and the ongoing fight for justice for his victims.
