Andre Vidigal Joins Wycombe Wanderers After Stoke City Exit
Andre Vidigal has officially signed with Wycombe Wanderers following his departure from Stoke City. The 27-year-old forward, who left Stoke at the beginning of January after a two-and-a-half-year tenure, is eager to revitalize his career. Vidigal’s time at Stoke saw him fall out of favor, having not started a league match since April 2024.
In search of continued play in England, Vidigal trained with Wycombe for two weeks before finalizing a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the season. He is poised to make his debut against Doncaster this weekend.
New Beginnings with Wycombe
Vidigal’s arrival reunites him with Nathan Lowe, alongside coaches Dave Hibbert and Alex Morris, who have previously worked with him. The forward expressed his enthusiasm for this fresh chapter, stating he is “ready to hit the ground running.”
Tom Stockwell, Wycombe’s director of football strategy and data intelligence, commented on Vidigal’s signing, noting, “We are delighted to welcome Andre to the club until the end of the season. He has shown his quality on the training pitch, and we are confident he can help us in the second half of the season.” Stockwell highlighted Vidigal’s experience across various leagues in Portugal, the Netherlands, and England as a testament to his adaptability and potential success.
The Wanderers currently sit ninth in League One, eight points shy of the play-off spots. They are gearing up for a challenging match against promotion contenders Bolton on March 7, 2024, followed by a fixture against relegation-threatened Port Vale on March 28, 2024.
Looking Ahead
Vidigal hopes to mirror the success of fellow forward Sam Vokes, who also made the switch from Stoke to Wycombe and flourished by scoring 30 goals in 144 appearances over four years. As he embarks on this new journey, Vidigal aims to reinvigorate his career and contribute significantly to Wycombe’s campaign.
As anticipation builds for his debut, fans and analysts alike are keen to see how Vidigal will adapt to his new environment and whether he can replicate or exceed the success of his predecessor. The upcoming matches will be pivotal as the club aims for a strong finish to the season.
