ITV has achieved a significant milestone, as January 2026 became its largest month for streaming, recording an impressive total of 383 million streams. This figure surpasses the previous high of 375 million streams, set in June 2024, following the Men’s Euros. The surge in viewership was largely fueled by popular soap operas, reality shows, and drama series, establishing ITVX as a key destination for viewers seeking compelling content.

The success of iconic shows like Coronation Street and Emmerdale contributed notably to this record-breaking month. Streaming for both soaps rose by 48 percent year on year, culminating in their highest monthly figures ever recorded. A special crossover episode, dubbed “Corriedale,” aired last month and attracted 5.9 million viewers across both TV and streaming platforms, making it ITV’s top program in January.

Love Island All Stars Boosts Streaming Figures

Additionally, Love Island All Stars continued its successful run, achieving 40 million streams in January alone. This made it the leading title for the 16-34 age demographic among commercial competitors, which includes other broadcaster video-on-demand services and ad-supported subscription platforms.

The show’s popularity extends beyond streaming. According to RadioTimes.com, “Love Island” garnered over one billion total impressions across social media platforms, averaging 57 million impressions per day and accumulating 606.5 million video views.

In the drama category, January proved to be a standout month for ITVX. The series Red Eye, comprising two seasons, was the top performer with over 25 million streams. Another acquired title, The Hunting Wives, reached nearly 7 million streams, marking one of the best monthly totals for an acquired program on ITVX.

ITV’s Strategic Content Mix Drives Engagement

The overall streaming figures for drama reached their highest point since January 2024, when Mr Bates vs The Post Office premiered. Other notable titles included After The Flood and Grantchester, which were part of ITV’s diverse offerings during the month.

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment, expressed his enthusiasm for the record achievement, stating, “The combination of a brilliant drama offering, two of our biggest brands—Coronation Street and Emmerdale—alongside our most popular show for 16-34s, Love Island, have come together to deliver ITVX its biggest ever month.” He added that 2026 promises to be filled with exciting new content, making this milestone a fantastic start to the year.
