KSI, a prominent YouTuber and musician, encountered an unexpected backlash from the audience during his debut as a permanent judge on Britain’s Got Talent on February 21, 2024. The incident occurred when he became the only judge to reject a parkour act featuring a dog named Ninja, leading to boos from the studio audience.

The act, performed by Dom and his canine partner Ninja, initially captivated the judges with a pre-recorded segment showcasing their impressive stunts along Blackpool’s seafront. Despite the enthusiasm of judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden, KSI remained unconvinced by the live performance that followed. His decision to reject the act set him apart from his fellow judges, sparking a negative reaction from the audience.

As the crowd expressed their discontent, KSI humorously defended his position, stating, “Don’t boo my cats!” This reference to his pet cats angered the audience further, as they adhered to an unwritten rule of the show that typically favors dog acts. Declan Donnelly, part of the presenting duo Ant and Dec, remarked to the camera, “You don’t say no to dogs on Britain’s Got Talent, KSI. It’s the rules.”

KSI’s Role as a Judge

This season marks KSI’s first full series as a permanent judge on the show. He previously filled in for Bruno Tonioli last year before officially taking over following Tonioli’s departure. KSI’s initial performance as a judge has already garnered attention, particularly for his unexpected rejection of a beloved act.

Last year, the show’s format welcomed guest judges, including Stacey Solomon, who stepped in after Cowell suffered a head injury. Solomon’s presence was well-received, with Amanda expressing her admiration for her warmth and humor, praising her experience from her own auditions on The X Factor in 2009.

Despite the excitement surrounding KSI’s debut, Amanda reflected on her experience as head judge during Cowell’s absence, admitting, “I must admit I hated sitting in that seat.” As the longest-serving judge, she understood the role’s importance but felt isolated when positioned as head judge.

As Britain’s Got Talent continues to unfold, reactions to KSI’s judging style will likely shape the narrative of this season. Viewers can expect more performances and potential surprises as the show progresses, maintaining its status as a staple of UK entertainment.
