Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Fubar Cancelled by Netflix Amid Ratings Decline
Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that his Netflix spy series, Fubar, will not return for a third season. The veteran actor attributed the cancellation partly to the rising popularity of his son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, who stars in the hit series The White Lotus on Sky. During an appearance on NBC with host Seth Meyers, Schwarzenegger discussed the shift in attention from himself to his son since the latter’s breakout role.
Schwarzenegger humorously recounted how, prior to the success of The White Lotus, he often received attention from fans at the gym. He noted, “Before, all the people came up to me in the gym and said ‘Arnold, get in touch with me, especially girls.’ But once White Lotus premiered, a girl approached me and said: ‘Here is my contact.’ I replied, ‘Well, thank you,’ to which she responded, ‘No, no, no, for Patrick.’ Now everything is about Patrick, Patrick, Patrick.”
While Schwarzenegger’s anecdote provided a light-hearted glimpse into his personal life, the underlying reason for the show’s cancellation lies in its performance. Fubar struggled to capture audience interest, leading Netflix executives to decide against renewing the series.
In Fubar, Schwarzenegger portrayed a CIA operative who is forced to postpone his retirement, navigating the complexities of espionage and family life. Despite the action star’s formidable presence, the series ultimately could not compete with the buzz surrounding Patrick’s character, Saxon, who has been noted for his prominent role in The White Lotus.
The cancellation marks a significant moment for Schwarzenegger, who has enjoyed a long and varied career in both film and television. While Fubar may have fallen short in ratings, Schwarzenegger’s legacy in Hollywood remains intact, and his son’s rise suggests a new chapter for the Schwarzenegger family in the entertainment industry.
As viewers focus on emerging talent, it may be a transitional phase for the action star, but he remains optimistic about future projects. Schwarzenegger’s humor and connection to his son reflect the evolving dynamics of fame and family in today’s entertainment landscape.
