Badenoch United Dominates FC Abernethy to Extend League Lead

Badenoch United seized the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the local welfare league with a decisive 11-0 victory over FC Abernethy on Monday night. The match took place at the Aviemore 3G pitch, where United showcased their dominance despite a slow start.
The game began with both teams experiencing a delay in scoring. It wasn’t until the 20th minute that Badenoch United’s Oliver Walker broke the deadlock. His goal ignited a flurry of activity, with the team quickly finding their rhythm. By the half-hour mark, Svend Pedersen and Dougal Cameron scored back-to-back goals within four minutes, taking the score to 3-0.
As the first half progressed, Sam Cairns and Charlie Taylor added to the tally, leaving Badenoch United leading 5-0 at the break. The second half saw Dougal Cameron complete his brace just three minutes in.
Pedersen and Taylor continued their scoring spree, netting their second goals at the 66th and 73rd minutes respectively. With just ten minutes remaining, Lukman Busari joined the scoring party, and Scott Macdonald pushed the score into double figures in the 84th minute. Finally, Sam Thain capped off the emphatic win with a goal two minutes from the final whistle.
This victory means Badenoch United is now nine points clear at the top of the league table. However, they face a challenge ahead with a bye week and two postponed matches, including a crucial game against their closest rivals, Aviemore Thistle.
Meanwhile, the opening round of the season’s final knockout competition, the Cruickshank Cup, did not proceed as planned on Friday. Grantown Rovers were unable to field a team, granting Aviemore Thistle a walkover into the semi-finals. Upcoming fixtures include FC Abernethy hosting Badenoch United and Cromdale traveling to face Aviemore Thistle, both scheduled to kick off at 19:00.
As the season progresses, Badenoch United’s impressive performance sets the stage for an exciting conclusion to the league.
