Co-op Unveils Refurbishment Plans for Rhos Convenience Store

The Co-op has announced plans to refurbish its convenience store located on Market Street in Rhos, Wales. The proposal includes significant upgrades aimed at improving the shopping experience for local residents. The application has been submitted to Wrexham Council and will be evaluated for approval in the coming weeks.
Among the proposed enhancements is the installation of a new ATM on the left-hand side of the store’s front. Additionally, plans include the addition of a roller shutter and external LED lighting to modernize the store’s appearance and functionality. The Co-op aims to enhance safety and accessibility for customers with these improvements.
The refurbishment will also address structural aspects of the building. The company seeks permission to install new ventilation systems within the external walls. Furthermore, new plant equipment is slated for the store’s rear yard, alongside the installation of UPVC fascias and a timber gate on the right side of the store.
To improve safety for customers and delivery personnel, new bollards will be placed outside the shop and within the service yard. These modifications reflect the Co-op’s commitment to providing a better retail environment while maintaining a focus on community needs.
While the Co-op operates over 2,500 food stores across the UK, communication regarding specific details of the refurbishment plans has been limited. The company has not provided additional information for local media, which has led to concerns about community engagement.
The outcome of the refurbishment application will be determined by Wrexham Council in the near future. As developments unfold, local residents will be keenly observing the progress of this initiative and its impact on the Rhos community.
