Man Charged After Fatal A10 Crash Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

A 23-year-old man has been charged following a fatal collision on the A10 that resulted in one death and left another person seriously injured. The incident occurred on August 15, 2023, at approximately 07:10 near the area between Stretham and Chittering.

The crash involved a Mini, which was struck by a lorry and two other vehicles. A 53-year-old man, who was driving the Mini, was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a passenger in the Mini sustained serious injuries and was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The accused, Adam Bates of Juniper Drive in Chatteris, faces multiple charges, including causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving without insurance. Bates appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on August 16, where he was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 15, 2023, at Cambridge Crown Court.
