Vandals Damage Moray Food Bank Van, Impacting Services
On August 26, 2025, Moray Food Bank discovered that one of their delivery vans had been vandalised while parked at the Lossie Green car park in Elgin. This incident, which is believed to have occurred between the night of August 25 and the early hours of August 26, has created significant challenges for the charity, which serves some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
The damage to the vehicle is extensive, affecting the windscreen as well as the side and rear of the van. Such vandalism not only disrupts the operations of Moray Food Bank but also poses a setback to their mission of providing essential food supplies to those in need.
Community Impact and Call for Information
In a statement shared on their Facebook page, representatives from Moray Food Bank expressed their dismay, noting that the vandalism has had a “significant impact” on their ability to deliver services. The charity relies heavily on its transportation to distribute food to various locations, and the loss of a van hampers their logistical capabilities.
The organization has called upon the local community for assistance. They urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Police Scotland at 101, quoting incident number 0830 of 26/08/2025. The police have been notified and are currently investigating the matter.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by charities like Moray Food Bank, which work tirelessly to support those experiencing food insecurity. The vandalism not only affects the charity’s operations but also raises concerns about community safety and support for charitable initiatives.
As the investigation unfolds, Moray Food Bank continues to seek public support and assistance to overcome this setback, reinforcing their commitment to serving the community despite the adversities they face.
